MN autumn nights are met with warm apple cider and crackling fires and S’MORES, can’t forget the S’MORES! As the weather turns colder, we start seeking shelter inward and what better place to do so than a 3 Season Porch. These relaxing retreats offer shade from the hot sun and protection from the monstrous Minnesota mosquitos during the summer months. They also give us an opportunity to enjoy the spring and fall months just a little bit longer.
Flanked by windows these structures help us connect with nature. Additional comforts such as fireplaces (either real or natural gas), air conditioning and TVs make these dwellings true sanctuaries to escape to. Nothing brings a 3 Season Porch to life like tongue and groove planking. The natural, earthy tones of the wood make the perfect wall treatment. A wide variety of specie and profile choices allow the consumer to personalize the look and feel of the porch to their individual needs. Knottier woods or reclaim style barnwood offer a more rustic retreat, while painted planks or stained woods can offer a more modern escape.
In this example, the customer applied 1×6 V-Groove (WP4) Cedar planks to the walls and then added 5/16 beaded ceiling in the same western red cedar to the barrel ceiling. Rope lighting nestled behind the cedar crown moulding provides ambient lighting throughout the space. The customer finished the room by trimming the door and windows in matching cedar trim and added comfortable seating.
Just looking at this beautiful space, I can literally see myself spending countless hours here getting lost in a good book or snuggling under a blanket watching a movie and enjoying a glass of wine.
